Fraser Massage & Myofascial Release

I graduated from The Massachusetts Institute of Therapeutic Massage and received my “license to touch” as an LMT in 2007. Since 2015, John F. Barnes’ Myofascial Release has been my primary modality.

At the close of 2023, I made a big life change. After 20 years in Framingham, I sold my home – leaving behind my beautiful treatment space – and moved to Maine to resettle into my childhood home. I still have limited availability to see a few existing clients in Massachusetts, but am not taking on any new clients, at this time, in Massachusetts.

Rivermede Retreat in Southern Maine was established in 2023 and I am seeing clients at this location for individual sessions, and booking mini-intensives to catapult your healing process. Check in often, as retreats and workshops will continue to be added!

BEMER Therapy

BEMER stands for “Bio-Electro-Magnetic-Energy-Regulation.”

The BEMER generates a low frequency PEMF (Pulsed Electro Magnetic Field) with various wave-forms and frequencies that stimulate healthy muscles in order to improve and facilitate muscle performance. Uniquely, the BEMER device temporarily increases local blood circulation. It is used as vascular therapy, which not only improves vascular function, but also builds healthy bones.

PEMF devices are safe because the waves they produce are located towards the lowest end of the electromagnetic spectrum, which means they are safe to pass through the human body. BEMER is an FDA Class II cleared consumer medical device designed specifically to target circulation withing the musculature in healthy leg muscles – the core system necessary for optimal health. In short, BEMER therapy simply helps the body do what it already does naturally. This is one of many offerings at Rivermede Retreat.

My journey into the healing arts

I was trained in Swedish massage, have trained in Trigger Point Therapy, and Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation, Reiki and am a Certified Kinesio Taping Tech. But, most importantly, I am an Expert Level Myofascial Release Therapist.

I began my Myofascial Release journey in the fall of 2015, and never looked back. “MFR”, as it is referred to, is genuine healing of the highest caliber.

MFR practitioners are encouraged to continue learning to keep us in what John F. Barnes calls our “Channel 3”, which refers to our “feeling intelligence” – versus “Channel 5”, our analytical side. Continued education comes in many forms, which includes receiving the work ourselves, attending study groups, repeating classes and living the MFR principles. When we live our lives from our “Channel 3”, we live a deeper and more connected life.

I am also a study group leader. If you have taken MFR 1, please feel free to inquire about attending a study group. Study groups are generally held on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

What to expect from your session

After taking a brief medical history, discussing your goals with you, and assessing your needs, we will together work to customize a unique, therapeutic session to help you reduce stress, increase circulation, decrease pain, and improve your overall range of motion.

Please refrain from using oils or lotions prior to your session.
Myofascial Release requires that the practitioner “stick to the skin”, rather than gliding, so that we can reach into the fascial system to affect the most change. Please also refrain from the use of heavy perfumes.

ATTIRE FOR MFR SESSIONS: Gentlemen should wear loose or stretchy shorts or stretchy closed-front boxers. Ladies please wear or bring a two piece swimsuit, or yoga shorts and a sports bra. If you forget shorts, not to worry, I keep a few spare stretchy men’s boxers and women’s running shorts on hand to slip into, as those are among my favorite “bottoms” for this work. (And if you forget the sports bra, a regular bra does the trick just fine).
